22 Week Ultrasound

6/2/10:
We had our 22 week ultrasound today to check on the heart and spine.  Everything looked good except Nate was content being squeezed up into a little ball and the spine could not be thoroughly seen.  We have to go back to the specialist again in another 4 weeks for a follow up.  He's actually on the average side at 1 pound 4 oz and in the 51 percentile...totally opposite of Lexi :)

I started my summer break this week and am so happy!  I love spending my days with Lexi.  We are headed to the beach this weekend :)  Lexi is ecstatic and can't wait!  We've also been watching the French Open.  Lexi's new love is Federer even though he lost in the quarters.

We have our next appointment on 6/16 with the regular doctor.  Hopefully, everything will continue to remain great :)

20 Week Appointment

5/12/10 - So Lexi and I went to the 20 week appointment today with Dr. Chua.  Everything is still looking great.  Only gained 1 pound total and blood pressure is normal. His heart rate was nice and strong at 137.

At this time, we've decided on naming him Nathaniel Joseph and calling him Nate.  Joe and I both like the name Nathaniel and Joseph is a family name on both of our sides.

My next two appointments are 6/2 (ultrasound) and 6/16.

We're so excited!

It's a Boy!

Since Joe is going to South Korea for a business trip next week, we had to rearrange our appointments a little bit.  Yesterday, 5/6/10, we had our 19 week ultrasound.  The baby was still just hanging out and loved showing us his little hand.  We definitely saw the boy "stick" clear as can be.  :)  He weighs right at 11oz and is growing perfectly.  They couldn't get a good shot of his heart or face, so I have to go back again for another scan in 4 weeks.

Lexi now knows there's a baby inside my belly and she's getting used to the fact that it's a boy.  However, she still says she wants a sister.  She enjoyed seeing his ulna and radius on the computer and LOVED watching them draw my blood again.  She literally sat on the little circle stool, right up underneath the nurse about a foot away and watched the whole process.

We're excited to bring this little boy into our life.  It'll be a whole new set of experiences :)

4/9/10 - 14 Week Appointment

After completing the 24 hour urine test in the car on the way back home from Fripp on Spring Break, everything was great at my appointment.  Heart rate was at 150 and still no weight gain.  I'm starting to be hungry, but nothing sounds or tastes good.  I'll eat about 5 bites and be done.  My latest thing is just to snack throughout the day.

Our Spring Break trip was awesome.  Lexi loved the beach as usual and it was nice to get away for the week.  We ate good, fresh seafood and even caught some fish :)

All of the blood tests have come back negative which is a great thing.  Even the 24 hour urine test came back normal.

My next appointments are 5/5/10 with Dr. Anthony and 5/10/10 for another ultrasound with the specialist.  We hope to find out the gender of this little baby at that time :)

13 weeks and 6 days Ultrasound

Joe and I headed over to the specialist this afternoon for our second ultrasound.  (Huge thanks to my parents who watched Lexi for us for the afternoon.)  We saw the baby and everything looked good.  He/she looks much better than the first time that we saw him/her.  :)  Surprisingly, the baby has almost the same exact profile as Lexi did in her ultrasound pictures.  Small little nose and big forehead/brain :)

The doctors also wanted to get my baseline data so they took 8 vials of blood.  They were checking my thyroid, a down syndrome test, the cystic fibrosis screening, fragile x screening, spinal bifada like screening, and random pregnancy tests.  I also  have to do the 24 hour pee test which I'm not looking forward to completing this week. I go back in 5 weeks for the gender ultrasound :)

We're leaving for Fripp Island, SC with Brett, Jackie, and Sam for Spring Break on Easter.  We can't wait for this most needed break :)

10 week Appt

Everything went well at the appointment on 3/10/10.  A strong heartbeat was heard and Lexi said it sounded like a choo choo train.  She LOVES  seeing mama's doctors.  Unfortunately, Joe had to work and missed this appointment.  I don't have to take the progesterone anymore!  :)

As for me, this pregnancy is totally different from Lexi's pregnancy.  I have been so nauseous and can barely eat.  I've lost three pounds in the first month, but as long as more is staying in then coming out, they are not worried.  I've also been totally exhausted.  When Lexi goes to bed at 7:30pm, I hit the bed by 7:45pm.  I think it's because I don't get my 2hr Dr. Phil nap this time around :)

They are sending me to the specialist again for this 12 week ultrasound.  Since we had all of the issues with Lexi they want to just go ahead and be preventative and on the safe side this time around.  Now that the Northside Hospital at Forsyth is open, Maternal Fetal Specialist is in that location with better hours.  Joe was able to schedule that Ultrasound on Friday, 4/2/10, (Good Friday) since I don't have school.  We're trying to minimize my hours away from work, so I can save up my hours for my maternity leave.

My next regular OB appointment is at 14 weeks on Friday, 4/9/10.  We'll be coming home from Fripp/Spring Break Thursday night.

My parents gave me a 30th birthday party Saturday night.  It was a great party with an excellent bbq that was smoked just for me :) from the Gabos'.  All of our close family and friends were there and they all pretty much know our exciting news now.  We'll be making everything public after Spring Break.

Joey and Erika also brought home their new boxer Ozzy (maybe changing his name to Carlos) from Atlanta Boxer Rescue.  Lexi was the deciding factor.  After Lexi spent about an hour with him, he was definitely going home with Joey and Chia.  He needs some training, but with some consistency he has the potential to be a great dog.  He's meeting Tinsley and Luke today at the dog park :)

Ultrasound #1

After the whole house battling the stomach bug this weekend, we all made it to the ultrasound appointment yesterday.  We saw the baby and the heartbeat :)  It's very different then our first pics of Lexi.  Lexi looked like a little lima bean.  This one has a big head and something that looks like a tail!  I'm officially 7 weeks today (We saw Lexi at 5.5 weeks hence the major difference).

Lexi was all excited looking at the baby.  She thought it was "myself" as she says.  When I asked her where the baby came from she just says the "pewwter."  The computer is fine with me :)  She proudly displayed the picture on our table when she got home.

Next appointment is in 3 weeks.  Still haven't told many people; however, by Spring Break, everyone should know.
